Randy Raley is one of the thousands of people in the 15th district who has been following the news and saying “somebody should do something” about current U.S. Representative Mary Miller and the potential, long term damage of the Republican “Big Beautiful Bill.”
“Turns out, that somebody needs to be me,” Raley said. “I’ve had enough.”
In June, Raley announced his campaign to run for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Representative of the 15th District of Illinois.
The district’s current U.S. Representative has made national news … for not showing up.
Republican Mary Miller (Oakland) not only broadcasts conspiracy theories, quotes Hitler, and employs pedophiles (sources below), she refuses to be responsible to her constituents. Miller made national news in March 2025 for declining to attend a Jacksonville town hall held by her constituents. Attendees at the town hall addressed questions to an empty chair as proxy for Miller.
Now, the Illinois 15th District has an option for representation.
Raley was born in Moline, the son of a union shop steward and a waitress. He worked on his family farm, worked in a farm implement machine shop, and managed newspapers. Raley spent 45 years a radio personality in Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri, getting to know
people, learning to listen, and delivering practical information. He has extensive experience as a volunteer, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for veterans, children, and individuals with exorbitant medical bills.
And now, when he could be enjoying the quiet life of a retired grandfather, Raley is riled up.
His number one concern is the welfare of residents of the 15th district and how the elimination of benefits would impact their everyday life and the eight community health centers in the district.
In the 2024 election, the 15th district had no Democratic or Independent candidates. Miller won by a margin of 70 percent.
In June 2022, Miller was investigated for unethical use of public resources.
